Little Programmers - Weibel Elementary School

Your child will learn sequencing, estimation, problem solving and will have fun programming their new Robot friend to do exactly what they program it to do. In fact, your child will learn how to program Bee-Bot Robots to solve puzzles that they will design themselves! They will use counting and the alphabet to program and send their Robots on fun adventures like:

  • Getting around and out of a maze
  • Moving through and finishing an obstacle course
  • Doing addition and subtraction
  • Finding different paths to get to targets on the mat

Your child will be taught early concepts of computer science and critical thinking, and the ability to use information and skills in a variety of ways in order to solve problems. The lesson plans cover:

  • Computer Science Standards (understand and use the basic steps of algorithmic problem-solving
  • Define an algorithm as a sequence of instructions that can be processed as a sequence of instructions
  • Mathematical practice
