Come and play with your new Robot friend!

Campers are going to program Bee-Bots robots and send them on fun adventures like going through a maze, navigating through a city and/or adding and subtracting.

This program is designed for boys and girls ages 5 to 7. This is a camp for beginner level.

Campers will use sequencing, estimation and problem solving to program their robots. Plus, other activities during the program cover computational thinking exercises, studying the technology timeline and hardware.

This camp is a great introduction to Robotics.

Junior Programmers

Learn to create your first programs using Scratch Jr.! Start with making a character dance to producing a full simulated environment. In this introductory sequence of projects for Scratch Jr., we gradually introduce a variety of practices and concepts while simultaneously introducing young coders to a variety of blocks and tools in Scratch Jr. Each of the projects is aligned with the algorithms and programming standards developed by the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA).

Coding with Robots (Beginners)

Learn through play! Combining a real robot with coding fires up a child’s imagination, inspires dreams, and builds confidence!

This program is designed for boys and girls ages 7 to 10. This is a camp for beginner level.

Navigate the robots through challenging maze, make robots react to their environment, complete coding puzzles on the tablet, work in teams to compete on fun games. Campers will use a series of fun tools (Dash and Dots, Lego® WeDo and Beebots) to engage with technology and use their critical thinking skills.

Robotics and Programming with Lego WeDo

Build and program simple robotic systems using LEGO® Education WeDo!

Use simple coding skills, engineering concepts, components of the robotic system and connect it to block programming to expand your project.

This program is designed for boys and girls ages 7 to 10. This is a camp for beginner level.

Campers assess different outputs of the system by varying the inputs and variables. They learn to analyze and present these results to an audience. This program reinforces team-building skills, boosts confidence and encourages your child to experiment with new ideas.

Instructors provide learning opportunities for developing these broader learning goals:

Think creatively to make a working model
Develop vocabulary and communication skills to explain how the model works
Establish links between cause and effect
Reflect on how to find answers and imagine new possibilities
Brainstorm ideas and endeavor to bring some of them to fruition

Explore, imagine and create!

This program is designed for boys and girls ages 7 to 10. This is a camp for beginner level.

The campers will document their ideas in a design workbook, then use Scratch to create computational artifacts (like games, animations, music composition) using ideas from their lives and interests. They will reflect on their own projects and learn how to provide feedback on other campers’ projects. The goal of this camp is to increase fluency with computational thinking and programming concepts, using a curriculum developed by Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Product Design with Coding and crafting 1.0 (using Scratch) Girls Only

Design a new product, craft your prototype and use technology to improve it!

This program is designed for girls only ages 8 to 12. This is a camp for Beginner and Intermediate level.

Campers will create a computer program to either automate the design phase of the product, or complete the product offering (for example, they can create a game that is related to the product). Campers will explore art, entrepreneurship, story building, animation and women role models in Computer Science.

The Product Design with Coding and Crafting class will have invited guests on our last day. The girls will meet with Women working in the Tech Industry, and these guest speakers will share their personal stories to empower the young students.

This program is designed specifically for girls. It is Code for fun’s way of building entrepreneurship and design skills with young creative women.

Beginner Python Programming

Start learning how to code in the most popular language: Python, using Repl.it coding environment. Students will draw colorful spirals and shapes with Turtle graphics. Students will need a valid email @ to use Repl.it and a signed consent from their legal guardian (if younger than 13 years old) 
This class teaches the fundamentals of computer programming and demonstrates how to code fun and creative projects using Python, a free, intuitive, open-source programming language. Students are also introduced to the process of computational thinking using illustrations, flowcharts, and pseudocode.

Science and Programming

Students will use Cellular software (from Snap!) to create an agent-based simulation in order to answer a real-world problem: how does disease spread and how can we boost our immune system, how do we need to dispatch firefighters to effectively put out a wildfire.

Students will watch and study their simulation to better determine what actions need to be taken in case such an incident occurs. This is a powerful way to understand how coding can help us better understand how we can influence the world around us.

Maker Space
This is a jam-packed week of making where your student will learn 2D and 3D CAD Design and make their own creations! 3D printing, Laser Cutting, Vinyl Cutting, and more! Your student will learn the skills to use our equipment to explore their creativity!

Welcome to the magical world of <HTML>! Campers will be linking to other sites; learning how to add images; collecting information from visitors.

This program is designed for boys and girls ages 11 to 15. This is a camp for beginner and intermediate level.

They will also be introduced to JavaScript programming to make their website pages more interactive. At the end of the program your child will have a website of their own design. Children must be computer literate (master typing and use of the mouse and trackpad is a must).

Children’s creativity is endless. If kids engage in design from an early age, they will be able to expand their creative potential. They are able to imagine things that go beyond expectations. Learning HTML is a fun way for kids to express themselves.

Bootstrap: Algebra

Bootstrap: Algebra applies mathematical concepts and rigorous programming principles to creating a simple videogame, and is aligned to National and State Standards for Mathematics, as well as the CSTA standards and K12CS frameworks. Students create a simple, 3-character game involving a player, a target and a danger. They design what each character looks like, and use algebraic concepts to detect collisions, handle keystrokes, and determine how they move and interact.

Cybersecurity - White Hackers

What exactly is the internet? How is it built, and is it secure? This program is designed for boys and girls ages 12 and up. This is a camp for beginner and Intermediate level. Students become aware of their digital-selves online and understand how to protect their identity and their data. They also learn how data can be encrypted and that cryptography was used way before computers were invented. How do companies secure their data and what exactly are malware, viruses, and anti-viruses? During this program, they will also learn about the power of algorithms and how they can get to the same outcome using different solutions. Finally, students are introduced to programming languages to create an encrypter/decrypter program. They send each others coded messages and become cyber super hero. Cybersecurity is a important subject in today's society and provides multiple career opportunities. As teenagers spend majority of their time on the internet, it is crucial that they are aware of how to preserve their true identity and keep their data safe.
