Redwood City

Programming with BeeBots

Date: July 15 - 19

Time: 9am - 4pm

Age: 5 to 7 years old

Location: Red Morton Community Center

1120 Roosevelt Ave, Redwood City, CA 94061

Programming with BeeBots

Come and play with your new Robot friend!

  • Campers are going to program Bee-Bots robots and send them on fun adventures like going through a maze, navigating through a city and/or adding and subtracting.

  • Campers will use sequencing, estimation and problem solving to program their robots. Plus, other activities during the program cover computational thinking exercises, studying the technology timeline and hardware.

  • This camp is a great introduction to Robotics.

Computer Science Genius

Date: June 24 - 28

Time: 9am - 4pm

Age: 7 to 9 years old

Location: Sandpiper Community Center

797 Redwood Shores Pkwy, Redwood City, CA 94065

Computer Science Genius

Become a super hero by discovering the power of programming. Find out what computers can do and how powerful they can be.

By the end of this program, students will

- Solve puzzles using block programing on the computer and through interactive “unplugged” activities (without a computer).

- Learn binary code and programming concepts (sequence, conditional, loops...)

- Be introduced to the concept of a function.

- Understand the components of a computer and what they are used for.

Creative Computing with Scratch

Date: July 8 - 12

Time: 9am - 4pm

Age: 7 to 10 years old

Location: Sandpiper Community Center

797 Redwood Shores Pkwy, Redwood City, CA 94065

Creative Computing with Scratch

Explore, imagine and create!

  • The campers will document their ideas in a design workbook, then use Scratch to create computational artifacts (like games, animations, music composition) using ideas from their lives and interests.

  • They will reflect on their own projects and learn how to provide feedback on other campers’ projects.

  • The goal of this camp is to increase fluency with computational thinking and programming concepts, using a curriculum developed by Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Coding with Robots

Date: July 22 - 26

Time: 9am - 4pm

Age: 7 to 10 years old

Location: Red Morton Community Center

1120 Roosevelt Ave, Redwood City, CA 94061

Coding with Robots

  • Learn through play! Combining a real robot with coding fires up a child’s imagination, inspires dreams, and builds confidence!

  • Navigate the robots through challenging maze, make robots react to their environment, complete coding puzzles on the tablet, work in teams to compete on fun games. Campers will use a series of fun tools (Dash and Dots, Lego® WeDo and Beebots) to engage with technology and use their critical thinking skills.

Beginner Python Programming - The art of Coding and Game Design

Date: July 29 - Aug 2

Time: 9am - 4pm

Age: 9 to 13 years old

Location: Red Morton Community Center

1120 Roosevelt Ave, Redwood City, CA 94061

Beginner Python Programming - The art of Coding and Game Design

  • This class teaches the fundamentals of computer programming and desmonstrates how to code fun and creative projects using Python, a free, intuitive, open-source programming language.

  • Students will learn Python using Repl.it, a free online developing environment and draw colorful spirals, shapes with Turtle graphics, create fun apps and games.

  • Students will need a valid email @ to use Repl.it and a signed consent from their legal guardian (if younger than 13 years old)
